Trincomalee Port

The Port of Trincomalee boasts of being the second largest natural harbor in the world, and has a long history, having being held by the Portuguese, Dutch, French and the British, as a result of its sheer size and depth, offering safety to vessels within its precincts. For vessels hailing from Eastern India and North Asia, this is the closest major Sri Lankan port.

Currently, the Port of Trincomalee has four multipurpose berths, over 1,750 meters of quay and primarily handles bulk cargoes. Its location, characteristics and relatively low congestion makes it attractive as a repairs and maintenance location.
