February ෴ පෙබරවාරි

February is one of the peak travel months in Sri Lanka as the south-west monsoon blows out and the northeast monsoon continues. Although this is not an ideal month to travel to the North and East Coasts, you can enjoy all other parts of the country while travelling during this month. Rain and storms can be ocassional across Sri Lanka with higher rainfall in east coast. However, the southern and western beaches will experience plenty of sunshine so this is an ideal time to visit for a beach holiday

The month is famous as the fourth month of the peak travel season for Sri Lanka's West and South Coasts as well as the North Coast. You can enjoy plenty of sea-based activities such as watersports, sailing, diving, snorkelling as well as whale-watching and dolphin-watching

February is the fourth month of the peak season for hot air ballooning in Sri Lanka. The activity is only available in Kandalama near Sigiriya and the views on offer are spectacular.

The month is also the fourth month of the peak season to visit the Wasgamuwa and Bundala National Parks, famous for their elephants and birds respectively.

This year, February is the final month of the peak season to visit the Hurulu Eco Park, the much less famous sister park of the Minneriya and Kaudulla National Parks. Despite the lack of a lake, open fields and its smaller size, the park is the only park in the cultural traingle that guarantees elephant encounters throughout the day.
